Providing a nurturing environment to develop new plays and outstanding artists.We accomplish this through our various programs and activities thatwe offer such as:
THE CORE PROJECT:
An ongoing intensive workshop for writers, directors and actors (or any combination thereof) to develop new plays. Playwrights will receive a one on one consultation with the artistic director about their play. Then work with a director and actors to have their play read. Plays from the CORE Project may be selected for the Play Reading Series and for development.
THE JOCUNDA FESTIVAL’S Virtual Play Reading Series on Zoom:
Plays are performed on Zoom on Sundays at 8PM EST with Virtual Backgrounds, Blocking, Costumes and Props. Our biggest compiment has been, “It’s like having a front row seat watch a film. You can see everyone up close. You almost feel like you’re right there with them.”
THE JOCUNDA MUSIC, FILM & THEATRE FESTIVAL:
- Provides a platform for artists to perform and share their work. We showcase:
- Singers
- Bands
- Comedians
- Spoken Word Artists
- Films
- Plays
- Screenwriter, Playwrights and Novelists
- Panel Discussions with Industry Professionals in Entertainment
- Fashion Designers
- Dancers
There will also be opportunities for people to Network and meet Investors and Producers.

THE STRAWBERRY ONE-ACT FESTIVAL:
The festival is presented twice a year, in February and the summer July/August, in which plays compete for the title of BEST PLAY.The festival culminates with the Awards Ceremony & Performance in which awards are also presented for Best Direction, Best Actor & Best Actress. MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP:
Students are taught by theatre professionals and will learn Broadway, Gospel and Classical style songs, how to sing in an ensemble as well as solo, work on scenes and choreography that will lead to a performance.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
- Is open to High School, College and Adults. Interns are usually working in conjuntion with one of our Festivals or Productions. Interns can work in the following categories:
- Production Assistant
- Casting Assistant
- Publicity
- Fundraising
- Theatre Administration
- Costume Design
- Set Design
- Stage Props
- Box Office and House Manager Assistants
- Stage Managing and Assistant Stage Managing
- Technical Director’s Assistant for Stage Plays or Special Events and on Zoom.
